5 stars (The Real Deal) - Imagine if Jesus Christ personally told you what the gospels meant -- told you what the holy ghost was (and how you could actually "receive" it). Imagine if he explained his parables to you, took all the mystery and confusion out. Imagine if he explained heaven and hell in a way that actually made sense to you! Imagine if he talked to you in a way that you could feel a connection to him, the way you did when you were a kid maybe. Imagine if the things he told you not only made you feel good like that, but they were also totally logical, so you didn't have to choose between your religion and the teachings of modern science. Imagine if religion and science turned out to be one and the same thing. Can't imagine it, can you? I know I couldn't. But do yourself a favor anyway. 4 stars (Oh Yeah!) - Great book for anybody who is burdened for the lost and believes they are being called by God to do more than the Christian next door. I recommend this book to everyone thinking of going into ministry or missions, or for anyone who knows someone already involved. Maybe it will help you understand why they act like they do. Peace! 4 stars (Where Do We Go From Here?) - McManus says it like it is. The church has become a tame, domesticated version of what Jesus seemed to introduce. Nearly every page of this book highlights invaluable concepts for the Christian life as it was meant to be lived. I can relate to the author; I was born and raised to walk the barbarian way--living my faith in a way that demands obedience at any cost. While others have tackled similar subjects, they often times seem to be full of bitterness and rebellion toward the church at large. McManus never gives off that sense of a grudge; instead, he wants to raise the church from its slumber. His "barbarian" way is a way of sacrifice and servitude. This is no mamby-pamby gospel that he's talking about. This is a commitment to a life lived for Jesus, no matter the cost. I loved everything this book had to say. My only complaint is what it didn't say. It didn't give us any practical ways to walk the barbarian way while dealing with the existing church. How do we make these concepts real without seeming divisive? Or, if we are to be divisive for a purpose, how do we go about it with Godly accountability? These are issues I've wrestled with for years. This book encouraged me to keep wrestling, but it failed to answer some of my deepest questions. For those who are still "civilized," this book might change your world. For those still trying to reconcile McManus' concepts with everyday church life, you will be inspired. 5 stars (Tapping the Healer Within) - Excellent and easy to use. A must for people who feel that the body has the power to heal itself from inside and are tied of the medical professions inadequacies. 5 stars (A therapy that works) - I am a Medical Doctor of Ecuador and I`ve been using the method for a few months and it really works in the percentages that Dr Callahan mentions in his book. It is a self help book, I think that the reason why some of the people who mention that the method didn't work on them was that in some cases the help of a professional trained in the method is required. Most of the time you can practice in your own home, but other times you really need help, the acupressure points need to be tapped in the rigth spot, if you tapp a little far away you are not producing the effect that you need. So give a try, if it is not effective look for someone trained in the method. One of the primary steps to using this effectively for yourself is to keep your mind steadily focused on the issue you are attempting to heal. Since most of us have trouble with this type of "one pointed" focus (our minds can bounce around at lightening speed!), we may have trouble getting results, and consider this a failure. It isn't! As a suggestion to the person with the blushing problem...a focus on the "feeling" that comes before the actual blushing would most likely work. However, it sounds like this person has a lot of trouble with embarassment in general....and may need to work on a multitude of aspects before getting relief. I find... 5 stars (Insight at a legible level) - I have found John Maxwells work to provide a great deal of useful thoughts, hints, and guidance, and all done without needing a masters degree in linguistics to decipher his language. He provides a good base for moving ones self into a thought process like a leader, with plenty of usable applications and steps. Very useable, and very inspiring. Basically his book is telling us that being a leader and being a manager are not the same. Managers are short term oriented. They are concerned with the day to day operations and are adept at controlling organizing and monitoring resources.
