1 stars (Cumbersome to Use) - I used this book for my second course in fluid mechanics, and I thought it was terrible. THe chapters are not organized very well, the example problems aren't presented effectively, and this problems at the ned of the chapter are not well written, as well as this book contains many errors. I don't reccommend this text to other students; I would use Munson&Okishi 's text for undergrads. 1 stars (Worst display of quality control I've ever seen) - I have never purchased a product of any kind in my life with a quality control as low as this textbook demonstrated. I believe the publishers owe ever student who has ever purchased this book a full return. Unfortunately there is a limited way for students to avoid purchasing this text if your proffesor intends to use it. I strongly recommend lecturers do not choose this text as it will force your students to throw more than a hundred dollars down the drain, and to add further insult to injury, your students performance will decrease. I know persons who are now less conversent in the subject of fluids for having read and used this text. If the publishers had even had their children check the text for mistakes they would have ended up with a better product. If publishers are smart enought to read these reviews I suggest to you that you get a real editor to go through the entire text and solutions manual with a fine tooth comb and release a sixth edition afterwards. I feel extremely sorry for any student who has to learn fluids for the first time from this text. 2 stars (AVOID THIS BOOK IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!!) - Please do yourself a favor and avoid this book. This is the fourth edition and perhaps the worst introduction to fluid mechanics book ever printed. I am a PhD student and have had many courses in fluids. This book is riddled with errors and mistakes. The theory is correct but the derivations of certain equations and the solutions to many, many, many problems are wrong! I cannot believ... 4 stars (God's Presence in All Things) - Brother Lawrence's life, as revealed in this book, is a testimony to the place that God should occupy in the daily life of all committed Christians. His humility forced him to be dependent on God for all things, and this book illustrates his philosophy in action. Brother Lawrence tells the reader how he can be grateful for all things - both good and bad - in one's life. I recommend it to all Christians who seek to prioritze their life to place God at the forefront. 4 stars (Devotional Classic) - The Practice of the Presence of God is an incredible story of a man who sought to be ever in God's presence. The lesson of Brother Lawrence is simple: If you want to be ever in the presence of God, you have to practice, practice, practice! You must force yourself to be ever aware of God's working around you. You must turn every aspect of your life into a service to Him. When you have done so, you will be habitually in the presence of God. No silly gimmicks. Just a continuous state of prayer, thanking God for every blessing and turning over every care. While at times this little book finds ways to repeat itself, hidden in the basic story is truth upon truth. This little book makes for very good daily spiritual reading. It is broken up into small, easily manageable sections which can be read as part of a daily devotional or prayer time. The only difficulty with it is that it's very short, so it probably won't last you that long if you only read through it once. But, it is still a devotional classic worth reading. 5 stars (constant and unceasing prayer) - Over the years I've met a few "prayer warriors" who seemed to spend every waking moment connected to God. They carried a peace about them, and saw prayer as a gift rather than an obligation. Frankly, they made me feel terribly inadequate. 5 stars (How Could We Have Not Known This Had Happened?) - A mass murderer with victims possibly numbering in the hundreds in the midst of the World's Fair of Chicago in the early 1900's? A fascinating read. A mostly historical perspective of a huge (almost impossible) undertaking (not just a World's Fair, but an entire self-sustaining city!), with suspense and horror sprinkeled throughout as we learn about the suave, diabolical Dr. Holmes as he lured his unsuspecting, charmed victims to their death. I enjoyed learning about this part of Chicago history. I enjoyed every page! 4 stars (Wondefully Written) - I grew up in Chicago in the 1940's and was always fascinated with Chicago's history, and how it evolved - both struggles and triumphs. My Grandmother was born in the early 1880's. She remembered the "Columbian Exposition" as the most magical thing she had ever experienced. Anyone who has any history in Chicago will love this book. I know it is considered "history," but it is written within a novel's contexts, and is very readable and enjoyable. I hope that Erik Larson will give all of us insight into other historical occurrences as well. 5 stars (Wonderful History lesson) - Such a great way to learn a piece of American History. The book read like fiction, but it was all true! I'm amazed at the amount of time and research that went into this book. It was the monthly book club selection. Great choice!!! ... 3 stars (Beautiful Ideas - Full of Mistakes) - A beautifully photographed book of afgans for beginning to advanced knitters. How discouraging can it be to start a project, and realize things just don't "add up". If you are a knitter, you know what I mean. I contacted the publisher and pointed out a number of errors in their directions. Surprisingly, they sent me two pages of Editorial corrections, most of them identified by readers. All I can say is, BEWARE, and call the publisher and ask for the Editorial corrections OR you try to figure out if there is a mistake in the directions. Just have fun!! 3 stars (Beautiful patterns, needs better editor) - I love this book. The patterns are beautiful and easy to follow, the pictures are stunning, and I expect to get a lot of use out of it in the coming years. However, I'm working on my first afghan from the book, and there are two mistakes in the pattern. It's on page 52, and the pattern doesn't work unless you cast on 154 stitches instead of 152, and there's a psso missing from Row 11 - without it, the row is a disaster of increasing stitches that would probably result in a giant triangle. I'm about 80 rows into the afghan, which had to be restarted three times in order to work out these typos, but now is coming along beautifully. But it makes me wonder what other typos are in store for me on the other pages. 4 stars (Excellent source book for a variety of afghans) - This book has plenty of afghans in various styles, from Bavarian traveling stitch (difficult) to garter blocks (easy.) All are designed in yarns you can find fairly easily on the Web or Ebay or in yarn shops. The styles also vary from lacy, openwork, to fairisle, to colorblock, to dense cables or texture. So there is a bit of something for everyone. I found the color choices mundane, but with some imagination (or even scanning software followed by image manipulation) you could envision an aqua lace block afghan in a stunning creamy taupe rather tha...
