5 stars (Made My Fiancee Laugh!) - I bought this book for my fiancee to help her through her pregnancy. I bought Jenny's book to give her some good natured comic relief from this sometimes difficult period, and it sure worked wonders. She said it was a quick read, but it had her laughing constantly. And she would lend it to her friends when they would need it. Though I bought a few more serious books for more definitive information, this was a great change of pace. I guess I should read it too. Thanks Jenny for putting a few smiles back on my Mommy to Be's face. 5 stars (Best Pregnancy Book For a Laugh) - This was by far my favorite of all the pregnancy books I've read. I was in tears from laughing so hard at numerous points throughout the book. 5 stars (A must read for any "Real" Pregnancy) - I was having a tough time of it during my 4th month of pregnancy. I was still throwing up, my ob wanted me to put on some weight which my husband took as a sign to force feed me, and I had literally 20 emails from extended family giving advice on keeping food down. My favorite "You need to eat more meat, gravy, and potatoes"...An Aunt who is an OB Nurse prescribed this book! The day it arrived, I read it cover to cover! Jenny McCarthy's frankness on pregancy from morning sickeness,sore boobs hemrroids, to fear of "pooing" on the delivery table is a welcome relief for all of us preggos who are sick of hearing about the pregancy glow and know that "What to Expect when you are Expecting" doesn't really cut it! Thank you Jenny - you saved my life. I am soo glad that I am not alone! ... 4 stars (The Real Truth) - I think this is a good book for those people who are willing to take a deep look at themselves. I didn't agree with everything in the book, but many of the points that were made were eye openers. It might help, as well, for the less scholarly reader to have the workbook because a list of relevant scriptures aren't as readily available in the book. 3 stars (Almost great) - When I saw a book called "lies women believe" I thought my prayers had been answered! This book would have been ideal if they had left it at that but they had to go and spoil it with the nonsense about the truth that sets them free. A shame. 4 stars (Potentially Life Changing Book) - I had been a longtime listener to Nancy Leigh DeMoss's radio series (Revive our Hearts) on WAVA in the DC area and I finally picked up this book after hearing her talk about it for a long time. I loved the simple language and her forthrightness in going right to the heart of many of the 'lies' we believe today. And this book really hit home for me. I had known for some time that as Christians we are called to follow a different path than those who would live exclusively in the world and follow worldly ways. But no one before had ever specifically come out and said "When you buy into the American consumerist mentality that more things will make you happy, that is Satan speaking! That is a lie -- that you can find fulfillment in things! Only God's grace is sufficient for you! Christ alone can make you happy and to some degree, you will always feel unfulfilled until that day that you come home to His heavenly kingdom. Only there will you feel completely fulfilled." I absolutely LOVED the literary device that she used throughout the book. She starts each chapter with a letter from Eve to her friends, talking about the difficulties she has encountered since being thrown out of the garden of eden -- the difficulties with the children, the difficulties with her husband, her feelings of ... 5 stars (A huge smack of reminder) - Let's face it, we are not dumb. In the very deep core of our intuition and innate propensity, we know when someone isn't 'into you'. But because we are all born good beings and our instincts tells us to; first, believe and trust, we do get hurt. And continue to get hurt knowing we are hurting. Being both sympathetic and selfish, we fall into this little yet very dangerous hole called 'DENIAL'. This book is funny, painfully honest and a great smack of reminder to tell us 'we don't need to live with unhappiness and wonder if we really deserve it but embrace happiness and KNOW we deserve it. Absolutely love it. 1 stars (A sexist view of men) - If you truly believe that "Men are not complicated, although they'd like you to think they are" and "there are no mixed messages", as the product description echoes, this book may be for you-- but why do you need it? If men are so stupid, simple, and inferior, do you really need to buy a book to understand them? Men aren't dim simpletons, and you're not going to improve your understanding of them by treating them so. If you want to find and understand a man you can respect, look for books that at least respect men. ... 5 stars ( The Plane Truth for Golfers ) - Excellent, straight forward, presented in simple logical terms and concepts. A valuable book for anyone who wants to learn more about the golf swing. 5 stars (the plane truth for golfers) - Frustrated with my lack of distance (age 75) signed-up for the one-olane swing and am really surprised at the results. Try it - you'll like it.. 5 stars (Destined to be a Classic Instructional Book) - Finally, someone has cleared the "instructional" air to enable golfers (especially those that are golf magazine and Golf Channel addicts) to recognize which tips apply to them. Also, it's refreshing to see an instructor of Mr Hardy's caliber come out so strongly in favor of a swing type (the 1 plane swing) that the general golf community has been led to believe (by TV analysts and other highly recognized swing gurus) was inferior. This book did a good job of giving the reader a "side by side" comparison between the 1-plane and 2-plane swings. Although it's probably more suited for a 1-plane swinger, at the very least it enables a 2-plane swinger to understand he's a 2-plane swinger and heed advice accordingly. ...
