1 stars (This is NOT a one day diet) - First, be prepared, the author makes a lot of statements for the benefit of her own ego. This was a turn off and detracted from the message. Now about the diet: if you want to get technical, yes the detox takes only one day. The problem is that you have to prepare yourself for the detox over a seven day period by following a very difficult diet. My guess is that if you follow the diet, you will get the results you want, but I gave this one a low rating because of the author's style and the misleading title. 4 stars (great detox diet) - The One day detox diet is a terrific way to flush toxins, lose weight and improve eating habits. A little redundant at times. 4 stars (I lost 3 1/2 pounds!) - I featured the Fast Track in Nutrition News for August. I did the 11 days myself and had enough space in the newsletter to share a little of my excellent experience with my readers. The Miracle Juice made the fasting day easy for me. However, during the other days, my saving grace was flax crackers. Just flax seed, salt and water. They were tasty, low calorie, filling, and satisfying. The book is a treat. Without even reading it, I got right away that Ann Louise was using weight loss as the "carrot". Everybody who lives those 11 fast track days gets to experience what it feels like to be healthy. Plus Ann Louise gives the public more health gifts -- the importance of detox even to the thin, the dangers of imprudent fasting, and and the connection between stubborn weight and a toxic body. Ann Louise really is the "Detox Diva"! In good health, Siri Khalsa, author, Nutrition News ... 5 stars (A Wonderful Convergence) - There are many wonders to be explored in the parallels between Buddhism and scientific inquiry into the nature of reality, life and consciousness. As you read this book, your thoughts ride a rocket of insight into the contentious and often disappointing debate between scientific theory and spirituality that seems to be paralyzing our society today. And yet the text never flaunts a particular conceit or takes on the aggressive, often brutal nature of the debate. While the parallels explored are startling and inspiring, most wonderful of all is the critical mind, engaging personality and boundless curiousity of the Dalai Lama himself, as these qualities radiate from the text. Reflecting on his theme, the Dalai Lama illuminates at least a view if not a way through the contention and confusion. He writes: "There is more to human existence and to reality itself than current science can ever give us access to.... By the same token, spirituality must be tempered by the insights and discoveries of science. If as spiritual practitioners we ignore the discoveries of science, our practice is also impoverished, as this mind-set can lead to fundamentalism." It is truly revealing that a man at the heart of a very traditional spiritual philosophy and practice can shed the burden of dogmatic thought for an open dialogue and the exciting and affirming human capacity to seek truth. Between science and spirituality, between the knowable and the unknowable, the critical thinking and spiritual insight of the Dalai Lama inspires the belief that open minds and open dialogue are not beyond either our scientific thought or our spiritual belief. This book is one of the most spiritual testaments while coincidentally being a highly accessible exploration of great scientific advances and current research. It is a book I will return to again and again. 5 stars (Science is not contra Religion and vice versa) - It is so nice to see religious leaders ... 5 stars (Must for usability and product design professionals) - Courage and Baxter did an amazing job writing this book, thank you! I really liked the fact that this book is based on years of realworld experiences from commerial high technology company. They have very good examples from real projects - which is a plus. Like the book said, it's very practical! You can use it out of the box from day 1. As a product design professional with years of experience in this field, book confirmed some of the techniques and approaches that I have been using (but I couldn't share it due to commerical reasons). It also covered topics that I wasn't very familiar with. I especially enjoyed reading the section on group task analysis. Book is organized very well, high quality paper, with great visual examples and photos! I would also highly recommend this book for product managers, so hopefully they can write better requirements and specifications. 5 stars (Unflinchingly practical tour de force of usability...) - Baxter and Courage provide a rich, accessible toolbox of diverse yet interrelated usability methods that will enable a designer (UI, UE, IA, etc.) to understand user goals, values, and purposes. As a design professional without a human factors background I find this incredibly useful at the office! A handy reference guide with case studies and sample projects, there is also an undercurrent of strategic thought in terms of how to approach and intepret usability methods, thus complementing the designer's iterative art. This book should also benefit design students and educators, who may be seeking a robust compilation of methods that speaks to the "real world" of adroitly performing usability to advance a design's evolution. 5 stars (A Very Usable Guide to User Requirements) - Courage and Baxter have assembled an extremely thorough, practical, and readable guide to a diverse array of user requirements methods available to the usability and design professional.
