5 stars (Crisis Preparedness Handbook: A Complete Guide to Home Storage and Physical Survival) - Great book. I really don't see how one could be any better on this subject. The author has a very organized mind, has done his homework, and gives very specific recommendations that are practical and easy for anybody to follow. No wasted space or filler in this book. It's really a reference manual that you'll end up underlining and refering back to again and again. I highly recommend it. 5 stars (a great resource) - This is a great book for anyone interested in surviving any disaster. There is no telling what the future may hold, but this book is a good start in any survival library. 5 stars (One of the best out there.) - This book is well though out, organized in a simple and logical manner, and gives you plenty of information to design your own plan for a crisis of any kind. Unlike other books that just offer a bunch of check lists and "buy what I tell you" recommendation, this book allows you to make your own decisions of what you will and will not need to stock for a crisis. Additionally, much of this can be done on a budget, much of what you would need are your usual grocery items, in canned form. This is a huge savings over many of the dehyrated and freeze dried options normally presented in survival literature. Overall, if you are looking for a book to use as a basis for which to begin planning for a crisis, this is it. ... 5 stars (The Best Way to Overcome Strategic Communications Stalls) - Since Peter Drucker first popularized the idea of business strategy, there have been vastly more strategies conceived than there have been strategies successfully implemented. Much attention has been paid to devising better strategies, and little to implementing strategies. Read this book today to enjoy much more prosperity! 5 stars (Introduction into the Balanced Scorecard) - This 1992 Harvard Business Review article, by Harvard Business School professor Robert Kaplan and David Norton, president of Nolan, Norton & Co., was the introduction into the now world-famous Balanced Scorecard - there is now even a Balanced Scorecard website. This article was followed by several other HBR-articles and two books ('The Balanced Scorecard' and 'The Strategy-Focused Organization'). The main reason for the introduction of the balanced scorecard was that, in the authors' views, organizations only measured financial performance. There was too much emphasis on financial measures and not enough on operational performance. By complementing financial measures of past performance with the objectives and measures of financial, customer, internal business process, and learning and growth, managers are provided with a framework to translate a strategy into operational terms. 4 stars (More Proficient Motorcycling : Mastering the Ride) - Excellent content. The information is priceless but it would be a big plus if the publisher could find a way to bind the book to help prevent it from falling apart while you read it. I had the same problem with the first book "Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well". 5 stars (More for riders...less for beginners) - The 1st Hough book Proficient Motorcycling is a very complete overview of the motorcycle, its mechanics and basic safety. That book serves starting riders very well. I read "More" proficient motorcycling soon after I finished the first book and when I had less than 200 miles under my belt. At that point in time I found that I was not ready for the 2nd book. I couldn't make sense of the examples. The book is much more a discussion with riders than a training course for beginners. This spring after beginning to commute to work on the motorcycle and having many more hours of cycle time I re-read the book in prerparation to return to the road. With more experience the book was much more useful. Where the first book told the reader what to do, "More" gives examples, choices and options for the rider to consider. The book is extremely thought provoking. It contains many excellent examples including a section that describes how you can lay out your own training course (assuming you have the tarmac to do it)and much helpful advice on cornering. If you are just starting out read the first book before this you read this one. You'll need the grounding. If you are an experienced rider I would suggest reading this book every year as you gear up for the riding season (unless of course you are lucky enough to live where its always riding season, then I'd make it a New Year's resolution).
