5 stars (good condition and speedy delivery) - item arrived in 2 days and was in perfect condition. completely satisfied. would recommend to others! 2 stars (Way too expensive for a paperback) - Attractive book but not a good value. 3 stars (Good ideas) - This book has been a clear read with some good ideas and productive perspectives. A great tool for new direction and focus in financial thinking. I really enjoyed it and recommend it for those who need a real change in their financial habits. 5 stars (Combines Tools As Well As Programming the Subconscious Mind) - I have read lots of books on the topic of How to Become Wealthy, etc. This one is unique because the author gives the reader, in detail, two important things: 1) Statements to say to yourself, to program your subconscious mind, and 2) Excellent, practical ways to become wealthy. One of the most helpful to me was to stay away from negative people, and especially this - try for one week not to complain, about yourself or anyone else. Believe me, even if you don't become wealthy in terms of money, you'll be a lot wealthier in terms of peace of mind and happiness! Most books, unfortunately, only give you one type of information, not two. I absolutely believe that the more tools and information you get re: getting wealthy, the better off you are. If you want to get wealthy, get this book! Also - the tape is great to listen to. The author's enthusiastic style is contagious, plus you get to listen to his messages which "stick to you" even more than reading the book. 2 stars (nothing new) - A lot of mlm hype - certainly not the realities discussed in more thoughtful books like Millionaire next door and Millionaire Mind. ... 5 stars (Get the book!) - It will change your life, if you let it. It changed mine, and continues to do so. 5 stars (A Course in Miracles) - A great book that goes into great depth of explanation about life and the biblical meanings in life. 5 stars (No Matter What Your Path This Book Can Only Bring You Inner Peace ) - This is a three volume edition that comprises of the Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers. I must say that the teachings and messages are beyond profound, where there is so much truth that leads to inner peace. There might be a few lines that seem different, and it is great to question them and then read further to gain a deeper understanding. This book goes beyond religion. It is all of our divine birthright to our connection to God, Holy Spirit, where there is unfailing guidance at every moment of life. This book teaches this to you. It teaches the true meaning of forgiveness, how when we see each other as extensions of our self, we see the oneness we all share, and our divinity as equal spiritual beings at the same time. This text can lead to the end of all wars and suffering, because truth is revealed so simply. It is always the simplest truths that once understood lead to peace on all levels and in all areas of life. If some of the text feels different to what you have been taught, that is okay. Take all of the good that it has to offer and incorporate that into your understanding, so that light can truly dispel any seeming darkness in your mind that has caused you any anxiety, suffering or pain. This book is nothing short of a gift to humanity. I am going to quote from the preface of the book, so you can know "How It Came": "A Course in Miracles began with the sudden decision of two people to join a common goal. Their names were Helen Schucman and William Thetford, Professors of medical Psychology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. 5 stars (An Answer to Our Prayer of S.O.S.) - My soon-to-be-husband and I try to live as closely to His will and word as we can, but even so, disagreements had been tearing us apart recently. Even as we approach the doorstep of marriage, we'd begun to have doubts because of the frequent misunderstandings. He heard a radio spot on a Christian station talking about the book and, in a desperate attempt to mend our relationship, he mentioned it to me. I was just as frustrated as he was, so I bought it the next day. I read the whole book in about 3 hours. It was an easy read and, for someone so anxious to make things better, I couldn't put it down. He was at work when I read it in its entirity, but last night was eye-opening and awe-inspiring. Ladies, I highly recommend making a list of questions to ask your significant other/husband while reading. So many things occurred to me, even things like, "Do you really see it this way?" or, "Is this really how you feel when I say/do ____?" We assume that men are all simpletons, and they play the role rather convincingly sometimes, but this book gives great insight. Because of simple changes in wording, I was able to understand quite a few things about him that I thought I knew (but didn't get) before. The conversation we had based on the questions I wrote ironed out SO many things that had been plaguing us for several MONTHS; we haven't been this happy since the few spark-filled days after we first met. Finally, I must add something I found very helpful from this book. For longer than I've known my husband-to-be, I've struggled with depression. He's often encouraged me (in a concerned way, not a degrading one) to do things like lose weight or be active or have a more active social/spiritual life. I took these things to be insults, which only deepened my hole of worthlessness and low self-esteem. When we talked about the sections of the book that cover things like why they look at other women and what it means f... 1 stars (Disappointing) - I'd considered buying this book from Amazon, and decided to first examine a copy at the Boston Public Library. I was unimpressed. The tone seems aimed at middle-school students, and the text is littered with patronizing "Dick & Jane" anecdotes. A quick glance through the table of contents suggests that Grice and Skinner address nearly every conceivable aspect of public speaking -- but a closer examination reveals a complete lack of depth. It seems as if they simply brainstormed ways to add pages without actually investigating their subject. The most derelict example I found was the second chapter, devoted entirely to a discussion of ethics. This chapter includes a section on plagiarism, where Grice and Skinner define plagiarism and warn students that getting caught may result in failing a class or being expelled from school -- hardly the sort of information you'd expect from a college-level textbook. Meanwhile, Grice and Skinner lazily sidestep the most challenging issue -- the employment of speechwriters -- by confining its mention to a brief, rhetorical question among the chapter-end exercises. In other words: "Here's a complex issue. We've exhausted our space with rudimentary ones, but we encourage you to do some real work on your own!" There are some informative, useful books on public speaking. Richard Dowis and James Humes have each written excellent books on crafting and delivering a speech. Virgil Anderson and Ann Utterback have written valuable books on training your voice, and Livingston Taylor and Keith Johnstone have written classics on stage performance. My suggestion is to skip this book. I was thoroughly disappointed with its lack of ambition, and I'd hate to be stuck with a professor who found it respectable. ... 5 stars (A fresh look at Jesus the man) - I really enjoyed reading this book and discovering many aspects about Jesus the man and the sociological context in which he lived. I particularly appreciated that this book has no theological agenda. It presents conflicting views of Jesus'life, yet no sides are taken. 1 stars (A modern gnostic view of Jesus' life) - If you are not a Christian, this book would be a poor introduction to Christianity and will probably have little appeal to you since it does not present Jesus as a religious figure. If you are a Christian, the mere assumption that there are "literary creations" within the Gospels will draw you away from this book. Of course, if you're an atheist, this book will hold no appeal for you. So this book begs the question: who is it written for? The writer tries his best to pretend to be impartial in his view of Jesus, but to say he comes up short would be a stretch. Rule number one of an impartial approach to any study is not to bring your own assumptions into your subject. But that is not what the author does. In fact, from page one he assumes that the Gospels are full of mere "literary creations", and that dooms the book from the start. Bottom line about any study performed on the figure, historical or otherwise, of Jesus is to approach the subject willing to consider that whoever wrote the Gospels was either a)inspired by the Holy Spirit as it is widely believed by Christians or b)that the authors had no need to embelish the life of Jesus since His teachings and works were pretty amazing of themselves. If you're not willing to consider any of these two possibilities, you will end up with the biased study contained in this book. This book takes the gnostic approach to Jesus: that he was simply a man. A great man, whose teachings were intended to start a theological revolution much like Muhammad (Mohammed) or Confucius, but just a man. It casts doubt upon the veracity of the works of Jesus, including... 2 stars (Not typical style) - I have heard many speak highly of the book, but I just don't get it. There is passion in his style and his delivery encouraging teachers to maintain integrity, to stay true to themselves, and so forth. I guess that I lose interest due to the verbose language used. There are many aspects to teaching, and it is a lot of work; I am not equating this aspect to success or failure for connection with the students. As I said, many that I have spoken to enjoy it... I don't. 5 stars (The Courage to Teach - Palmer) - The book was in excellent condition. The box was partially opened, but the product unharmed. Audrey 4 stars (for any educator at any grade level!) - I read this for a graduate school assignment. It is a good book. Parker believes that classrooms should be subject-centered, not student-centered. It is very interesting why he states this. I actually liked the book the second time I read it. He goes on about not losing your identity while you teach and about not copying techniques that are not true to yourself. He gives a lot of insightful information. I recommend it to anyone in the field of education. I actually think I appreciated it more due to the fact that I have teaching experience. ... 5 stars (Dinner with a Perfect Stranger: An Invitation Worth Considering) - A warm and inviting look into the reason for His first visit - reconciliation. What a pity there were no more dinner courses! 5 stars (Terrific book & transaction!) - Great transaction - the book was in perfect condition. Thanks! 4 stars (Intriguing look at faith, worthwhile bits for believers) - This book is great for making a current believer feel like they have made the correct choice in their faith, because it backs it up with all sorts of evidence. It's kind of like reading Lee Strobel's Case for Faith and Case for Christ in extreme abbreviated format. I am a believer, and this book is perfect for coming up with arguments for people who take a stand in opposition to mine, but I don't know if it would make THEM believe any differently. There were a couple of points in the book that I was unfamiliar with and was glad to read: that if God is in me, he will love my spouse even when I am unable to, that the Trinity is truly beyond my understanding so it's ok if I don't get it. There is definite value in this book for believers, but I'm afraid for non-believers this would fall of deaf ears. Maybe not, the Lord has the power to do amazing things. ...
