Quote, "Don't excite yourself like this," remonstrated the other. "That young man's people are very influential, you know, and it looks bad enough on the face of it. The general had to take notice of their complaint at once. I don't think he means to be over-severe with you... 5 stars (What is Thy Will, M'lord?) - Well it seems up to me to set the record here... There aren't many reviews as of this typing and the game is getting scarce (might be discontinued - stores aren't getting new copies?)... So what's the boggle folks? Three important points to cover in this review, here they go: 1. Performance? This game, as far as I've experienced, as no bugs. It runs flawlessly, doesn't stutter or pause at all, and the graphics and sound quality are astounding. If you like 3D then Poo-Poo on you: the 2D graphics in this game outshine many 3D games on the market. The major problems that many PC-gamers have that they don't realize are among the following: virus scanning software running in the background, unnecessary background programs in memory, outdated drivers (video, sound, motherboard, etc), or just plain shoddy equipment (the cheapest and best advertised isn't the best quality!)... For the sake of guidance make sure you PC matches or exceeds the minimum requirements: the game developers did a good job of estimating what kind of hardware is needed to run the game smoothly... 2. Gameplay? Moooohahah! Total War - Total what? Knights of Honor (KoH) is on a level that cannot be compared with the current offering of strategy titles - perhaps that is why it hasn't exploded on the scene... KoH is much slower paced than other games (possibly even more time-consuming than Civilization - or at least equal)... But that is its strength: if you don't like to micromanage and don't have the patience to wait several minutes for something, anything, to happen then don't bother with KoH... The user interface, help menus, and in-game events are easy to follow and manipulate. The options for guiding your nation surpass any game I've played recently (again with maybe the exception of the latest Civlization offering)... If you like Civilization and Medieval simulations then KoH has consumed anything available today - play the demo and see for yoursel... 5 stars (Awesome value!) - I bought all 3 games as they came out, but if you haven't even gotten one yet, I reccommend you pick this up, especially if you love FPS games. Allied Assault is a terrific single player and multiplayer game. The single player mission is pretty long with great graphics, sound, and some really awesome scenery. The sound of wind blowing, snow falling, dogs barking in the distance, and, well, everything is great about the game. the on-line side has many different modes of play (especially mods) and is exremely fun. It is still one of the top 5 games played on-line. Spearhead gives you more maps and skins, and a very good though short single player mission. Breakthrough is more of the same: Very good (but short) single player mission, more skins, more weapons, and more maps. There is also a very cool (at least i liked it) game mode call liberation where you get put in jail when you die and your remaining teammates try to free you until everyone from one team is dead. All in all, you can't beat this for the price they are charging. An awesome deal. 5 stars (Still not sick of it) - Been playing Medal of Honor for about 2 years and Im still playing it regularly thanks to the multiplayer and extra maps in the expansion packs. One of the better multiplayer games IMO and proves you dont need the latest and greatest graphics, its all about the gameplay. 4 stars (Great) - Pretty good game. Graphics in Allied Assault are older, but the expansion packs are excellent. I would also recommend the Multiplayer part of either Spearhead or Breakthrough. It's a really fun game and I highly recommend it to all WW2 buffs, and Video Game buffs. ... 4 stars (Outstanding, provisionally...) - Mr. Metzen's 'Of Blood and Honor' is a stirring tale of a paladin's struggle between duty and honor. It is also a metaphor for racial hatreds and the blind injustices that sometimes result. I found this short tale charming and immersive. A quick note of caution. This being my first Adobe e-reader format e-book purchase, I was disappointed to discover that the 'permissions' (or lack thereof) make the book unprintable. Also, the download is registered by both the server from which it is downloaded and by the e-reader software on the computer to which it is downloaded. Ultimately, what this means is: Make sure you are willing to read this only from a monitor. You also cannot make backup copies, nor can you download the book again if something goes amiss (although I'm sure with a quick e-mail, Amazon.com will hook you up). Technical media issues aside, the book is worth the price. Enjoy it. 4 stars (Overall Well Written) - Blood and Honor was very comparable to Day of the Dragon, the other Warcraft book. The character of Fordring and the inner turmoil he faces are very well developed and the impact that his decisions have make for some wonderful plot twists. The book does a great job at foreshadowing more to come and there's even some surprise visitors in the book! Probably my only complaint and this is minor is the appearence of certain characters in the novel that I had believed something else had occured to them in the games. This is maybe a little picky and doesn't detract from the overall story, just thought it was interesting. I highly recommend this book, it's a quick read and keeps those epages turning! ...
