5 stars (A Must Read for Christians) - Tozer's premise for writing this book is that all of us, especially Christians who should know better, have too low a view of God. In our minds we tend to minimize His power and bring Him down to our level, rather than holding Him in reverence. Unfortunately, Tozer claims, this inhibits us Christians from being who we should be in Christ, and there has been a cyclical effect for the last 100 years. Tozer uses each chapter to describe an attribute of God and how it should be viewed, and uses the Bible and other sources to support it. Each chapter is short but very deep; take your time reading it and meditating on it. Our Sunday school class is currently doing a Bible study with this book as the source for our discussions, and using each chapter to point us back to Scripture. Both Christians and non-Christians will enjoy this book. 5 stars (Knowledge of the Holy.) - If you really want to take your view of God outside the established christian box, this book will give you food for thought. 4 stars (Knowledge of the Holy) - Another of Dr. A.W. Tozer's best-known works. This book is a brief overview of the attributes of God. No single attribute can be emphasized to the exclusion of any other. All are important and Dr. Tozer touches on all of them. A very readable and valuable resource to show Christians more about the awesome nature of our Heavenly Father. A very useful book for anyone who wants to know more about God. ... 5 stars (The Holy Longing) - I am ready to listen to the audio book for a second time. I could easily relate to the author as he delved into the struggles of spirituality in one's faith life. I am going to have to listen to the Shattered Latern! 4 stars (Do religion and the business world "mix"?) - There is a clear difference between the type of spirituality the Christian "right" panders to (re: George W.) and the kind of spirituality that true Christians look to reach/gain on a daily basis. Rolheiser's book does not preach or make one feel like they are listening to a moron like the 700 Club's Pat Robertson. Rather, he is grounded in his principles - a modern day version of Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" in its sincere messages. 5 stars (A Comprehensive Understanding of Christianity) - This is a great book for any one who is struggling spiritually or wants to deepen and enrich their faith. Written in a very engaging style this is a great book for understanding what Christianity is and how to live a Christian life. Rolheiser's biggest contribution, I believe, is his emphasis on the need to balance personal prayer with community (the church), social action and a mellowness of heart (doing these things for the right reasons). His chapter on sexuality may seem the least grounded, but I think it's one of his most important, because too often Christianity has associated sexuality with the secular and bad, rather than affirming its role in the Christian life. I really believe there is something for everyone within the covers of this book. ... 1 stars (The DRM on this renders it pointless ) - Do not buy this if you expect the Microsoft Reader to "read" this book. The only reason I bought this was to be able to listen to this from my pocket PC on the road. The book is an Owner Exclusive which disabled the text-to-speech ability of reader. Maybe Amazon should include that little bit of info in the description. I understand the disabling of copying/pasting/printing but text-to-speech? The first thing I'm going to do after writing this review is uninstall Microsoft Reader and kiss my $10 goodbye. 3 stars (Holy Bible, NIV) - Do you happen to know that Proverds Chapter 31 the whole chapter is not inside this bible... 1 stars (Don't buy this for your PPC) - I purchased this solely for use on my Axim x50v. It doesn't work!! Once opened, you cannot use any of the touchscreen functions. The hard buttons work to go from page to page, but it's impossible to quickly move through the books and chapters. DON'T SPEND THE MONEY IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS FOR YOUR PPC. Purchase the Laridian product. ...
