5 stars (The best Basic College Mathematics book) - The book is really easy to read and follow directions. I like the exercise reviews after each class and the test at the end of each chapter it is very helpful. I really recomend this book. 5 stars (The Best Jr. High Math Curriculum) - I'm a homeschooling mom of 7, and this is the best math curriculum I've ever used for Jr. High. Two of my daughters have used this in 7th and 8th grades and then went right into algebra without any problems. This book is so thorough in explaining each process that very little help was ever needed, and since then they've used this same company's curriculum to teach themselves algebra and geometry. I recommend this to anybody who wants a very easy to use and excellent math curriculum. (By the way, don't let the title fool you. A bright 5th grader can use this book successfully.) ... 4 stars (Good Read) - I found this book enjoyable, although the time travel concept got me a bit. I also recommend Time Camera by Terence Lee which looks at the subject from a different perspective. 4 stars (Gabaldon's Imagination Makes Her Historical Tale Easily Believable) - Adventurous twenty-eight-year-old Englishwoman Claire Randall finds herself in the time right after the end of the Second World War, returned to marriage with a man she barely knows. She had wed her husband in a fit of romantic passion right at the outbreak of the war and then been separated from him for most of the next six years. She is now unhappy and does not exactly know what to do. Relations with her nominal husband are strained and she is full of regrets. In an effort to reconcile, the couple takes a last ditch vacation to the far north of Scotland, and there Claire, when walking alone one morning on the mist-covered moors, visits a standing stone legendary for its mysterious magic. All this is established right away in this novel, which then morphs into what is neither a science fiction tale, a romance story, straightforward history, nor a fantasy, yet which contains elements of all those genres. On that morning at the stone, Claire is cast backward in time to the same spot in the Highlands, in the 1740's, and there, alone and understandably bewildered, she must survive in a landscape both familiar and foreign. In this brutal past she weathers the first hour of her voyage backward only to be confronted by a band of marauding English soldiers who think her "scanty" modern dress is the mark of a harlot. These troops, whose task it is to pursue bandits and rudely keep the peace during a time of instability, intend to fall upon Claire with wicked intent. She is rescued as a result of a chance encounter with rebel fighters and taken in by Scottish clansmen who reside in a vast castle by a loch. Claire is treated with suspicion but respected for her medical skills (she had been a nurse in ... Dell :: Fiction-General :: Fiction - General :: DIANA GABALDON :: :: Outlander
5 stars (From one prude to another...) - Having grown up with way too many inhibitions to bore the readers with, the whole concept of Erotic Literature, was as shocking as it was enticing. On any ordinary day, I would not have dreamed of reading such volatile prose but I must say that having had it recommended my an honorable source, this collection of short erotic stories was a blast of fresh, invigorating air. Ms. Lawrence manages the perilous and exciting balancing act between deep and insightful characterization and plot with great, passionate sexual writing. The reader is not embarrassed by the sex as much as inspired by it. The noble intent of the writer is subliminal yet prominent. This is not sex for it's own sake, (to rouse the dormant housewife) but sex as the highest form of art and expression. All five stories are engaging and energizing. My personal favorite is "Pints". For anyone who is a sucker for the Vampire lore; reinvented, this is a "must read". 5 stars (Reprint of Review by Kimberly Burton of Love Romances) - Ms. Laurence writes several short, but enticing stories that take the reader on a journey of love with her six wonderfully robust and vibrant couples, each having their own romantic tale to tell. The stories held this reviewer's attention quite easily. They are exciting, fast paced and a delight to read. The love scenes were titillating and full of emotion, causing this reviewer to sit back and sigh with each passionate union of body and soul. Ms. Laurence's characters are so full of life, this reviewer felt as though she could actually reach out and gently stroke the cheeks of each of them and be able to feel the softness of the willful heroines' skin or the roughness of the new growth of whiskers upon the strong hero's face. Each story wove a delicate spell, which left me yearning for more. If you are looking for a book containing true romance, sinfully hot love scenes with out the vulgar words or slang so commonly used today, hero'...
