5 stars (Great Software) - I have used the trial software and found it to work better than my own Nikon software. It's quick, accurate and easy to use. 4 stars (Shallow Learning Curve & Great Results) - I've used Cool 360 for several years now. It's very easy to use, and, once you get the idea of a minimal overlap in each shot, it gives great results. You have to be aware of parallax, so using a tripod is very helpful. However, once the concept is mastered, you will get great wide agnle or 360 degree panoramic photos. For the price, it is the best out there for the purpose. I would like to see it updated to a full-screen mode and menus, but those are minor. Go for it! 5 stars (With a Little Effort, Excellent Results) - I wasn't expecting much after a bad experience with Ulead's "Face Factory", but this product works well. As a test, I "organized" my work room (a bedroom with a bunch of computers and music gear) so everything was at about the same height. Then I set my 1 megapixel digital camera on a tripod on a small table in the middle of the room. I took 12 shots, rotating the camera to roughly match the hours on a clock. Then loaded the shots into the program and said "Go" (or whatever). It came out very good, pretty seamless, so that in Quicktime, you can mouse around the screen and feel like you're turning inside the room. Plus you can zoom in and out and raise and lower the view (a little). And, of course, the view is continuous, i.e. there is no "end" - you just keep turning and see the room again. Plus you can add Photoshop type filters to any or all of the shots for some interesting effects. You do have to be careful about the clock hours views, if you don't align the shots like that you can get a discontinuity. ... 2 stars (videostudio) - This program is bad. It has ok editing features but after i captured something and said stop capturing, the program did not let me capture more but only edit. Don't use this program. Period. 1 stars (bad product) - well i have written several previous reviews, however i believe they were not posted because of my opinions on the creators blood-alchol level when this was dreamed up. However now im trying to make a very calm review. This product is not intuitive at all. Especially if you have previously used Apple iMovie. However there is a much better alternative to this, Power Director 3. I will not take the 30mins to write such a thorough trashing of this product but believe me, don't get this product. 5 stars (You can't beat it for the price) - Does exactly what it's supposed to. Some complain of a steep learning curve - I watched their online tutorials before starting, and it was pretty easy. Captures sharp-looking video from my Sony MiniDV camcorder via IEEE1394. I can edit all my clips together, insert titles, voice-over track, scene transition effects and burn a DVD with menu, all just with mouse clicks. Hasn't crashed yet. My only complaint is that the controls for tweaking the audio levels on the main video track are very fiddly, and the user guide is a bit sparse on exactly how this aspect is supposed to work. ... When combined with Uleads Photoimpact XL you can edit menus, setup subtitles, chapters, & burn DVDs even with no prior experience. 5 stars (Makes professional-looking DVDs with minimal effort) - This is a really nice package. I created a very professional-looking DVD painlessly, complete with musical and motion-enhanced menus, 2nd audio track for commentary, custom chapter start points, etc. What I thought would be a lot of work was really easy, and looks fanstastic. 5 stars (Great for wedding DVD's) - I purchased the PictureShow 2.0 version and saw some negative comments so I felt compelled to speak up for such a good product. This software is great. I used it to create my own wedding DVD and also a yoga DVD for a friend. Both turned out much better than some professionally created ones I've seen. I think a lot of professional video (artist types) people are using old tools and aren't very computer literate. I have a windows XP PC. Pro's * You can create a professional looking DVD menu with your own image and music in the background. * It also has many template menus to pick from. Very easy to change font's and colors. * This product never crashed or got stuck. Unlike Roxio software. I'll never buy Roxio again. * I had about 600 pictures, 6 categories' (front menu) and used about 20 songs. It handled it no problem. * It has a default transition of fade to black. It looks the most professional. It also had many other transitions to pick from, but honestly who uses checker, swips, up/down fades on TV or movies. It looks amateurish. * You can start or end a song on any picture. It has a total time for each picture, including transition time, so you can start the next song when the other one finishes. May require a calculator for the math challenged. * I never burned directly to DVD because I wanted to make many copies so I created the DVD image on my hard-disk. I then used my crappy Roxio software to burn the DVD. This process works very quickly, as it only takes about 5 minutes to burn the DVD from an already created DVD image. The poor guy in some other review thought he needed a new DVD drive to burn his disk. He didn't, he could have just created a DVD image on his hard-disk and then used ANY software to burn the DVD disk. * The final DVD looks and plays flawlessly. Yes even better than great and glorious photoshop. why? cause it's user friendly. you dont have to be a technical geek. im not one of them, and i could figure out how to use all the tools before i lost my creativity. and for fifty something dollars! this is truly worth the buy. if only i had the money, hahaha. on a more personal note, this program allowed me to do some art that saved my life really it did. so i guess this is a thanks to ulead, your 30 day trial saved my life, and helped my imagination run free. 4 stars (Flexible works at all levels) - This is a interesting software package to work with. You can obtain very good results with little knowledge with the single 'autofi'x button to choose from the multitude of preset buttons for creating lots of standard corrections and effects. The software is even capable of changing the 'look' of the preset buttons to a 'preview' of the change to your photograph. The presets are a scripts of various individual tools. You can create your own scripts, combining tools in any order you wish. You can also work with each tool independently either with presets for that specific tool or by using the controls to create your own degree of effect. Almost every tool, allows you to see simultaneous before and after views of the change or split screen before and after combination of the photograph being changed. You can also apply any effect as a 'preview' and can undo any tool, script to any level. I particularly like the choice of selection tools. Besides the standard selection by color, you can choose with several different methods/tools. They have a smart extraction tool that lets you paint a broad outline of the area(s) you want to select and the software does the dirty work (provided there is enough contrast/color difference) to give you a fine division between the subjects. 4 stars (Fast, Easy, and Reliable DVD Authoring -- Wow!) - I am ecstatic about this product. "DVD MovieFactory 3.0" works so much better than the "Click to DVD 1.3" software that came with my Sony Vaio. The user interface is not quite as intuitive as "Click to DVD", but I have a lot more flexibility to be creative with my menus, background images, and background music. Most importantly, "DVD MovieFactory" is fast and reliable. "Click to DVD" crashes a lot. I wonder why I didn't buy "DVD MovieFactory" sooner. So, now that I have great DVD authoring software, I spend my time watching my videos instead of frustrating myself with trying to create them. Thanks, Ulead! 5 stars (READ THIS! Major Flaws FIXED) - This product should have never been released. Clearly Ulead is getting product to market to gain market share when it was obvious the product wasn't ready. The software had too many flaws such as long delays between menu screens and chapter title text input. It was flawed from a usability standpoint, slow menu creation performance, extremely slow DVD compilation but the results were great. It just required alot of patience. Well it seems Ulead got their act together and that's the reason I'm writing this review. Hopefully everyone can benefit. Ulead has put out a couple of updates to this product that make it a pleasure to use. If you plan on purchasing this (and I recommend you do) you'll have to apply the updates to the product your purchasing. But its well worth it. Trust me. The updates can be found at http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm. First apply Part I then apply Part II. Here's what has changed with the update. For a multiple menu screen DVD you can apply a common menu title (and font) across all the menu screens (this was manual before and slow).
