5 stars (Very entertaining and a wonderful price tag!) - This book is simply awesome! I am an easily distracted reader and I haven't read a book cover to cover since I was a little kid. This book was so great I read it in less than thirty minutes! Everything you ever wanted to know about extreme survival situtations is included. If it's not, it's probably in another one of the Worst Case Scenario series. 4 stars (Don't Leave Home Without It) - "The indispensable, indestructible guide for surviving life's sudden turns for the worse. Survival experts provide illustrated, step-by-step instructions on what you need to know fast: how to fend off a shark, how to take a punch, how to deliver a baby in a taxicab, how to survive a poisonous snake attack, how to jump from a moving care, how to identify a bomb, how to escape killer bees, how to survive if your parachute fails to open, and dozens of other dire situations." What more could you want? Just don't try this at home. 3 stars (Interesting, but too short and thus overpriced) - Disregarding the probability of your engagement into those life and death scenarios (unless you are Bond or Bourne), the topics are very interesing. Please read the "See sample pages" for a quick look of what those "tips" refer to. However, I have a serious complaint about it. There are only 40 "How to" in this handy book. For the price of it, 40 more should be included. I didnt suppose to pay nearly fifteen bucks for a book which I could finish within an hour. ... 5 stars (Just what I was looking for) - I've only had this book for a few days, and I'm very impressed with the depth of coverage this book goes into. It does a great job of covering all the important topics of survival, starting with the basics. It has a nice set of field guides for edible plants in various regions as well as poisonous. It covers trapping and hunting game, and a whole section on knots. Grant it, depending on your level of know how, it may still behoove you to get more in-depth book on some of certain topics. Still this book of course doesn't replace in-depth research a person needs to do for the specific region they plan to hike or hunt or whatever they do. It makes a great reference book! 5 stars (I hope I never need the skills taught in this book.) - However, if I do, I hope that I also have this book with me. It is very comprehensive, and I will keep this in a survival kit so that if I ever am stranded and have the good fortune of being stranded with my survival kit, then I will be able to use this book as a resource. Now that we have seen the havoc mother nature can wreak, as well as manmade disasters, I think that everyone should read this book or one like it in order to have some basic knowledge regarding how to live off the land -- no matter the condition -- and to be found (or not be found, if not being found is more conducive to survival). This is an excellent resource for any person who might find herself in a situation lacking in modern comforts, where knowledge of how to survive means the difference between living and dying. 5 stars (Filled with practical and impractical solutions...) - You know, reading this book, one might get the impression that it was developed by and for crazy war vets who are completely paranoid about getting stranded on a desert island and left for dead. Which is a good thing, because it is filled with invaluable knowledge about making shelter, fire, food, first aid, how to make deadly traps for animals o...
