5 stars (A must for the Rich Fishing Addict) - If you have unlimited funds and time this book provides the backbone for a lifetime of fishing trips to exotic locales. Initially I bought the book as a gift for a flyfishing addict but it was such a great read that I ended up buying a second book for myself. The photography is outstanding and so far I've visited 2 of the places in the book and they both ranked as the top trips I'veever taken. 2 down and 48 more to go!!! 3 stars (Pretty Pictures, Lacking In Meet) - Flyfishing books seem to come in 3 forms, unfortunately. 1) How To - From Basic to Obscure tips 2) Stories/Biography's - Self Explanatory 3) Pretty Pictures While there are exceptions ("Leaper", "Atlantic Salmon Chronicles" come to mind), this isn't one. It's in the Pretty Pictures category. And Pretty the Pictures Are! It shows you the same places the magazine always talk about, but in glorious color. Good for the coffee table I suppose. 5 stars (Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die) - I boutht this book for my father for Father's Day and he hasn't let it out of his sight since. He has read it cover to cover at least twice. Pictures beautiful and descriptions detailed. I think he is making his reservations for next year on Christmas Island. He was with us the week I gave it to him and he told everyone about the book. What a buy! I will have to get another copy if I want to read it -- it definitely will not be passed on throughout the rest of us fly fishermen in the family. ... 2 stars (A big waist of money!) - This book is so general that even someone who has never fished would know more already. Some of the information is inaccurate and/or not up to date. The auther has not been even been fishing for what I think is a long time. He even admits to getting a lot of his info from guides and charters. In fact he talks a lot about all the fish he has cought on the charters and trips he's been on. Anyone can catch fish on a charter. I hope the For Dummies book are not going to all be like this from now on because they are normally very good. 4 stars (A nice read.) - I bought this book about a year ago and still refer to it every now and then. Most likely it's not a book you'll really want to sit down and read cover-to-cover. But it makes for nice reading when you're sitting down relaxing and thinking about fishing when you can't actually be out on the water. The author seems to cover a good bit of ground and for a couple of questions I still had, he was pretty responsive to e-mail as well. All the different kinds of rods, reels, lines, hooks, artificial bait, live bait, knots, etc. are covered. All-in-all, worth the money and your time. 4 stars (Good book) - I recently took up fishing so I could pick up where my father in-law left off with my sons. I knew nothing of the sport so this book seemed to be the one to purchase. It is a great first read for new anglers. It has just the right amount of information without overwhelming the reader. I learned a lot and so did my kids. ...
