XXGEN Description:
XXGEN is a highly configurable Pattern Recognition and Manipulation Utility for EMails and Files. It allows the user to define patterns (in terms of sets and variables) and a state machine (with patterns and actions to perform when patterns are recognized). It accepts input from stored emails (via MAPI) and/or files. It can generate database tables (via ODBC) and/or files. It can be configured to parse emails (header fields and text bodies) or perform transformations on files.
XXGEN also features: * Recursive capabilities (enabling parsing of nested tags, comments, etc.) * Wide-string (Unicode) input / output capability * ODBC interface making database layout info (table and field names) available to configuration developer * ODBC interface allowing generation of an arbitrary SQL statement built with a combination of user-defined data and parsed data * User-defined function interface, allowing calling of a DLL created per the interface specification
Sample email parsing tasks: * Extraction of any type of data (text, numeric, date, currency, URL, email address, etc.) from the header fields or the text body, and loading of the extracted data in database tables * Identification of emails containing certain text, or text strings "near" each other * Identification of emails from selected senders, to selected recipients, etc.
Sample file transformation tasks: * Conversions - generation of a variety of output formats from a variety of input formats (from/to RTF, HTML , XML, C/C++, etcetera) * Text search / search and replace
Trivial tasks as well: * Line counting * Byte swapping
