AISBackup Description:

AISBackup provides a managed backup of data and the Operating System of Windows PC's and Server's to CD, DVD, Disk drives, Networked drives, FTP Servers and all other media that looks like a disk to Windows.

Feedback has told us that some Users are happy using AISBackup to backup and restore data from their Mac and Linux computers using network shares. However, AISBackup is not suitable for backing up or restoring the Operating System from Mac or Linux computers.

AISBackup is a program designed to provide backups of your Windows PC and Server Operating System and data to the following media:
CD, DVD and drives that emulate CD, e.g. Iomega REV.
USB & FireWire connected Hard Drives.
Removable Media such as Iomega Zip, Jaz and DVD RAM.
Local Hard Drives.
Networked Drives.
Internet or intranet FTP Server.
E-mail optionally using AES 128-bit encryption

If the Operating System or complete boot drive is chosen files referred to as the System State in some other backup program's are backed up.

On FAT file systems AISBackup can back up 'Opened Exclusive' files.

It is usually not possible to backup 'Opened Exclusive' files from NTFS drives, however a third party driver may be used to achieve this, see here.

The backup can be tested for restore capability using the recommended file integrity method or file compare method.

Optional password protection.

AISBackup retains all backed up versions of your files so that you can revert to an old copy of a file. Files can easily be restored to a new location or opened directly from the backup using right click menu options. Files can also be restored by selecting them and then dragging and dropping directly onto Windows Explorer. Windows 2000 & XP Users can also restore folders using the drag and drop method.

Automatically prune the backup destination to keep the size of disk based backups down.

From version 2.0: Optionally choose the number of each day's, daily, weekly, monthly and dated backups to retain. Manually prune any backup sessions from a disk based backup.


Each backup is Session based, this means that you can restore your PC back to a particular date.

Restore to the original location, in-use files are replaced after re-booting.

Drag and Drop files directly onto Windows Explorer or the Desktop.

AISBackup creates standard zip format files enabling you to access your backed up data using your favourite zip program.

Quick Registry backup and restore option so that you can backup the Registry prior to making changes using RegEdit or RegEdt32.

From version 2.1 System Administrators may password protect or disable any of AISBackup's options on client PC's. For example: It may be okay for a client to run a backup job, but a password is required to modify the job or perform a restore.

CD & DVD writing methods:
AISBackup integrated Writer recommended for CD.

A third party packet writing interface recommended for DVD. Example packet writing system's include: Roxio DirectCD# or Drag-to-Disc, CeQuadrat PacketCD#, Ahead, Nero InCD, Drive Letter Access.

Check the documentation to see which interface was supplied with your writer.

A third party CD Mastering Application. for example: Roxio Easy CD Creator, Nero Burning ROM and many more. Recommended if the above methods do not work.
