5 stars (Great overall book) - Don't let the title fool you, there is quite a bit more information in here other than just that on reef invertibrates. This book, along with my Borneman book Aquarium Corals are the two best in my library and I highly recommend them to every newbie (and experienced reefkeeper) I come across. The only issue that I had is that the binding is not that good and the pages are coming loose. I've thought about hole punching it and putting in a notebook as I refer back to this book often. 4 stars (Good General Guide / Not Shopping Guide) - This is a wonderful book covering most invertebrates. I'll mention that there are no anemones, as that seems to be a purchasing reason for many - maybe that will be part of a future volume on Cnidaria. It goes over groups and give some specifics on particular species. I use it regularly to consult, but be prepared to read through and understand groups of animals as a whole. For example, you might not find that specific sponge at the store to know if it is photosynthetic or not, but you can read about sponges of all types in detail and understand whether or not you should try sponges yet. There is a nice section on refugiums if you are getting interested, that is more complete than any other book I own. 5 stars (Comprehensive, Complete, Easy to Read) - I'm new to coral reef keeping - and have been voraciously reading a dozen+ books on all aspects of reef husbandry. Calfo and Fenner's book on Reef Invertebrates is both a beautiful pictorial of reefs and invertebrates and is a very comprehensive guide to reef keeping water husbandry. I was surprised and amazed at the thorough and complete description of approaches to the essential aspects of reef husbandry. After an introductory section on water quality, additives, tank sizing there is the very best reference I've found on the potential goals and approaches to refugiums. This leads into a beautifully photographic essay on macro and micro algae - givin... 3 stars (Voice of experience--good advice) - The best part of this book is its easygoing style. Written seemingly entirely from memory, you'll understand and remember every word. The author skips the commonly available info and writes about the crucial nuts-and-bolts problems of building a house: what do you do if you've drilled a hundred foot well and come up dry? (Keep drilling.) His advice on some details, vapor barriers for example, is OK but you'll want to check the latest thinking on the topic too. Some harmless misinformation is passed along, like that Palladio, eponym for those short-tall-short windows, "invented" them. (He may have invented residential architecture, but those windows date to antiquity. In his day they were known as serliana, after the architect Sebastian Serliano.) The scientific explanations fall a bit short, and the chapter where he disparages Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's engineering does not show him in a good light. However he does caution you that drywallers, more than any other trade, will try to rip you off with a high materials estimate. Stuff like that you can't get anywhere else. 5 stars (Great first source) - If you want to have a house built, this is a great book to start with. The author is a general contractor who has seen it all and wants to educate readers about the building process. His intention is to prevent others from the pitfalls and scams of building, and simultaneously he explains the science behind plumbing, electricity, sewarage, insulation etc. He also discusses the attitudes and scams of subcontractors and local bureaucrats. This is not a how-to book; the purpose is to educate you enough so that you know what questions to ask as your house goes up. He begins with purchasing the land and ends with the final detailing of the house. He includes interesting anecdotes to make his points. I was impressed his ability to go from the abstract to simple things usually overlooked. Although I was lost in th... 5 stars (Informative Read) - I must say I was leery about reading yet another "how to" book about dating but after strong encouragement from others who have read the book, I purchased it and must admit I was very pleased and refer back to it quite a bit. I've just recently started dating again after a long hiatus, but as this book states, I was taking care and healing self so I can attract the kind of man for me. He provides pointers and tips and believe me they actually work. This particular time in my life I have a very healthy and fun outlook towards dating. I would strongly recommend this book. 5 stars (Reel it in!) - Men Are Like Fish is a practical, humorous easy to read guide on the basics of men and women together and individually. An enjoyable book, it holds lots of anecdotes for dealing with the beginnings of relationships. Goodness knows getting started is often one of the hardest parts. The fishing analogy works perfectly! 5 stars (EXCELLENT INSIGHT) - This book gives excellent insight from the viewpoint of a man. There are lists and features in here that breakdown and explain the behavior of men from a vantage point most women do not think of. It includes reasons why guys run away and things women shouldn't do. I read this book during the time I was waiting in jury duty (between trial times) and I could not put it down. The author is straight forward and uses basic, real-life examples most people can relate to. I recommend it to any single female seeking a lasting relationship, to minimize heart ache before it happens. ...
