From time to time, the Amazon search engine sends people to this older, out of print version. We have tried repeatedly to correct this, but Amazon seems unable to do it. Try clicking on the authors names, and look for Snorkel Hawai The Big Island Second Edition, which is more up to date. 5 stars (WONDERFUL!!) - Handy and cleverly detailed, the Malinowskis sure know the Big Island. There were enough listings to keep me diving every day for two weeks. You have to go underwater to really appreciate this place. You should also buy a surfing rashguard top to stay warm because you'll be underwater more than you ever thought. The Big Island Revealed pales in complexion and is not a contender when it comes to knowing anything about snorkeling. You won't need to sign up for a pricey professional tour if you have this book. Snorkeling Hawaii takes you to the same places the tours tout as hidden and private. 5 stars (Snorkel Hawaii The Big Island --New Edition) - The second edition of this book is great. There are so many snorkeling sites that this book will be a welcome companion for years. In fact, it has already made the Big Island a favorite. You won't find places like Frog Rock described anywhere else, so you will likely have this fabulous site to yourselves. One can snorkel a different site each day and find them just the way the book describes them. This book helped discover the Big Island in a very special way, and I fully recommend it. ... 5 stars (Stars & Stripes Forever) - Combine well honed invesigative skills with the passion borne of a life long love affair with the sport of pursuing, catching, releasing, nurturing and learning from the noble Linesider and you have a read, courtesy of Mr. Russell, that anyone who cares about the continued health of the Striped Bass, its habitat and the continued reclamation of our coastal waters will tear through then pick up and read once again. Bravo! 5 stars (A must read for striped bass conservation) - This is a great book, full of history on the never ending fight to save the striped bass. Even a better read for me as I've met and spoken to a couple of the folks in the book. 1 stars (surfbook) - no text to explain why these pictures are surf related. hardly any actual surfing pics at all. 5 stars (Top Shelf ) - Perhaps the best coffee table book of portraiture and short commentary of some of surfing's more interesting characters that I've ever come across. Joel Tudor's copy is really enjoyable: brief, fundamental and insightful; the subjects all being either friends, mentors or acquaintances of his, you come away understanding that the book was written as a labor of love as opposed to an assignment. Michael Halsband's photos are wonderful - very natural - not contrived or coerced. I discovered that the book took 6 years to produce, but it sticks together with a visual cohesiveness. I know that there's a lot of surf-related books available these days. I had a hunch that this one was different and it is. Well worth owning. A must for collectors of the genre. Buy it -- I did. ...
