5 stars (info galore) - This book is a kick-start. It gives you a great desire to get started and a belief that you can do this. Reading it once will not be enough if you want to truly learn all that is offered in this book. 5 stars (One of the best books of the year!) - "How to Buy, Sell and Profit" is, in my opinion, one of the best business books of 2005. This book has insight, education, humor and is easy to read. The information is logically outlined and contains value to both the beginner and advanced eBay seller. Essentially the book is written in story format and not like a textbook, which is what makes it so easy to follow and understand. eBay is a great opportunity for people to make a lot of money, or just get rid of some stuff in their house. In "How to Buy, Sell & Profit on eBay" I learned how best use eBay to apply to my situation. I highly recommend this book. The author is the best expert in the field. I was introduced to this book through an instructor who had made this book required reading for a credit class. Instead of wasting hundreds of dollars on some seminar to start a small business, purchase and use this book to discover how much success you can achieve by thinking "outside" of the box. 5 stars (Comprehensive, well-organized and honest) - This book gives a thorough description of how to start and operate a small vending operation. The first chapter is perhaps the most important for novices, because it helps you figure out whether this is the right business for you, and whether you will be able to put enough time into it to be successful. The book is organized logically and systematically, making it easy to find the information you need in its 130-odd pages. The author takes an honest approach; instead of advocating cheating on taxes, he explains how to keep good records that will make it possible to substantiate legal tax deductions. 5 stars (perfect book - loved it) - enjoyed reading this book. very good work by the author! 3 stars (Vending 101) - This E-Book is good for someone thinking about getting into vending and comes across as geniunely interested in protecting amateurs from the snakes in this industry. I have plenty of experience in vending and knew 98% of the contents and so, for me, it was not worth the $15 I paid. The politically correct use of "she" and "hers" was also a distraction. An overview of the Vending market was missing and there is no list of references for the reader to do his own research. So, the E-book is good for rookies but people already familiar with the business do not need it. ... 5 stars (Outstanding!!) - Brilliant, BUY IT, learn from it. This book covers all the major stumbling blocks to growing a business from capital raising to giving a presenation. Whilst it should not be the only start-up book in an arsenal, it is almost certainly the best start. Combining an easy-to-read writing style with some real life experience, Kawasaki has written one of the best business books available at the moment. 5 stars (The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki) - This is an entrepreneur's bible. It is a complete guide to what matters for new entrepreneurs, and a great crib sheet for experienced entrepreneurs. 4 stars (Worth the (little) time and effort.) - This book was a quick and enjoyable refresher in a lot of what I felt like I knew before... which I say to mean, I didn't take life-altering proverbial knowledge with me when I was done... but it did renew my passion and focus my energies in the proper, productive direction. What I have learned from experience in the computer business. Should give more detail and elaborate on business aspects of small business... 5 stars (Another weapon in the computer entrepreneur's arsenal) - This book is mainly geared towards PC repair/networking people looking to start a business without the use of the contract brokers so prevalent in software/database/programming business. As such, it presents a view that is very complimentary to that exposed by Ruhl and Myers in their books. Instead of approaching brokers for contracts, it advocates "guerrilla marketing" techniques: mass mailings, postings at laundromats and supermarkets, cold calling, etc. as a way of obtaining clients. As other reviewers have mentioned, Rosenthal does not sugarcoat the potential pitfalls of this business. He also provides what is likely the best resource associated with the book, the Yahoo! 5 stars (A Must Read for those in the Non-Profit Sector) - As a businessperson with an MBA, I readily identified with and agreed with the advice and strategies presented in this book. For people with a passion to help improve things in a not-so-perfect world, this book is a gift. It provides real life examples and turns theories into step-by-step directions. Each chapter makes good use of subheads and bullet points and ends with a concise summary. The authors have real-life experience working as social entreprenuers and it shows.
