5 stars (Tapping the Healer Within) - Excellent and easy to use. A must for people who feel that the body has the power to heal itself from inside and are tied of the medical professions inadequacies. 5 stars (A therapy that works) - I am a Medical Doctor of Ecuador and I`ve been using the method for a few months and it really works in the percentages that Dr Callahan mentions in his book. It is a self help book, I think that the reason why some of the people who mention that the method didn't work on them was that in some cases the help of a professional trained in the method is required. Most of the time you can practice in your own home, but other times you really need help, the acupressure points need to be tapped in the rigth spot, if you tapp a little far away you are not producing the effect that you need. So give a try, if it is not effective look for someone trained in the method. Fernando Camacho MD 5 stars (Caution....must have an OPEN MIND to use properly) - I find it terribly sad that so many have ego problems with using and understanding these techniques. They are simple, profound, and effective IF USED PROPERLY. Roger Callahan is the "godfather" of EFT, and Energy Medicine in general. Here he shares his exciting discoveries as a practical guide for self-help of a multitude of issues confronting the average human. One of the primary steps to using this effectively for yourself is to keep your mind steadily focused on the issue you are attempting to heal. Since most of us have trouble with this type of "one pointed" focus (our minds can bounce around at lightening speed!), we may have trouble getting results, and consider this a failure. It isn't! As a suggestion to the person with the blushing problem...a focus on the "feeling" that comes before the actual blushing would most likely work. However, it sounds like this person has a lot of trouble with embarassment in general....and may need to work on a multitude of aspects before getting relief. I find... 4 stars (One of the best books out there on Borderline Personality Disorder) - I purchased this book for a friend. She wanted to give it to her Doctor. She was so impressed with this book she wanted everyone to read it. It is very well thought out and easy to understand for the lay person. A must read if have Borderline Personality Disorder or just know someone that does. 1 stars (please read this review) - If you are truelly a borderline personality who is seeking information before treatment or you are new to treatment do not read this book.It is a very outdated view which is insensitive to the needs of BPDers and their families at a time when hope and faith is needed.I read this post intensive treatment and as a now diagnosed BPD meaning treated and considered successfully treated this book negates it.One star for pointing out fellow famous BPDers. But read this when you can look back... Stick to Marsha Linehan and" Lost in the Mirror" 4 stars (Things Become Clearer) - This book defines a condition that has baffled us - BPD. 1 stars (Wasted Space) - I was very disappointed with the content and layout of this book. The amount of wasted pages for 'workspace' is excessive, but considering the lack of true content, I assume they needed to fill pages with something. 5 stars (Purchased by Spouses Group) - Our spouses group purchased this item to donate it to a Psycology Clinic at our local hospital. The clinic was very excited to receive it since they specifically requested this book. 5 stars (powerful, easy tools conquer depression/anxiety) - After years in therapy and various methods (Freudian, Jungian, etc.), it was finally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that helped me stop the negative, worrying (a facet of anxiety) voices that blared incessantly in my mind. I can not recommend this book enough. Its simple exercises will have you seeing the fallacy of your thoughts, which are what determine your mood. The book (and CBT's) superbly simplistic idea is that your THOUGHTS are what control your MOODS. Control your thoughts, and you control your moods. But before we can do this, we have to slow down enough to take the time to see where our thoughts are coming from. This book and its exercises help us find where we are simply WRONG in the thoughts we have about ourselves which lead to depressed or anxious mood. These exercises will help you determine your "hot thoughts," (automatic thoughts you hold about yourself that are linked to depressed/anxious mood), will help you examine evidence for and against your thoughts, and then help you use this evidence to create NEW THOUGHTS which ought to in turn help you create NEW MOODS. These techniques are amazingly simple but also incredibly powerful. If you feel stuck in "talk therapy" analysis and can not seem to change the way you think about yourself, this book is for you! However, you should also seek a trained COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST to teach you the techniques to literally CHANGE your thought process. Anxiety and depression are ...
