4 stars (Book of 5 rings) - The Book of Five Rings is indeed a great book to read. It has many functional applications that we can use even to this date. 4 stars (Musashi really understood strategy) - I read this book via download, translated by Victor Harris, but they can't be that different! It is roughly organized, appears to be random thoughts, and uses some figures of speech that can be difficult to understand, but is a masterpiece in it's own class. It's amazing how many people and entire cultures have moulded their philosophy of combat and even business around these precepts. This is a short, easily read book that moves along pretty quickly. It cuts to the chase almost immediately though, and doesn't back off. Well worth the meager price. 5 stars (great book ) - This is a great book for the swordsman, samurai enthusiast,or anyone who wants insite into the spiritual history of japan. It contains helpful advice for anyone looking to better their life and overcome fear. ... 2 stars (Bovine Scatology) - Pathetic indeed is the person who bases his life on these fortune cookie-level "it's deep because it's Oriental" truisms. Can anyone learn anything from this 2400-year-old highly-tampered-with-and-re-written collection of tips in military principles? At all? It actually cracks me up to think there are Yuppies who paid big bucks once upon a time to take seminars on how to incorporate the teachings of "China's Master Warlord" into their daily lives at the office. Oh, come off it! I'm laughing at you guys. Jeesh. Sun Tzu is extremely over-rated. More than that, he was clearly a bully, as the anecdote of him having the King's concubines beheaded for failing to obey his commands in a meaningless game shows. 4 stars (Small But Informative) - I douted it would have much info when i saw it could fit it in the palm of my hand, but to my surprize it is very informative. I think it's a good summary of the full larger version. 4 stars (Small but to the point.) - This book is definitely much smaller than I expected, I guess I should learn a little more about what I'm buying before I purchase. Oh well, the book is brief but to the point and definately an easy read. If you've always wanted to read the art of war but get bogged down by the length, try this out. ...
