5 stars (Great Method) - I am enjoying both the book and the 8 CDs found in this course. Very effective method! Really gets you speaking Spanish quickly and without the hassle. Book is great too. Easy to read, follows the CDs and has a word for word tapescript at the back. Biggest Plus: Easy and Fast 4 stars (Conversational Spanish In Nothing Flat (Frobose)) - Easy to use -- have found a couple of errors in English-to-Spanish words, but no big deal. It is somewhat difficult to use the book in conjunction w/ the recording, because the book has no real format. Took me a while to realize the "almost verbatim" words on the tape are where an index usually is. Otherwise -- pretty decent method of learning to converse! 5 stars (My Personal Experience with Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat) - In my opinion, no "single" language tool (a book for example) will make you completely proficient in a particular language. The key is to sellect various well crafted tools with different approaches. This gives you a more well-rounded view of your subject. Conversational Spanish in Nothing Flat will not by itself make you fluent but it adds "an important piece" to your developing knowledge and it does this very well by touching all bases and giving you lots of fun quizzes where new things are introduced and earlier lessons are reinforced again again. ... 3 stars (good design support book) - i found the book to be a good support when approaching a design. it lays out a series of axioms which help the designer to look at various design stratagies at the initial design stages. 5 stars (With absolute certitude a future "classic" design book) - If you want to make some money, I recommend you buy a couple copies of this book now and put them away for 10 years. With absolute certitude the "Universal Patterns of Design" (UPOD) will be a future "classic" design book. There are very few books that fit this category, but this will be one. The author's have done an absolutely stunning job of condensing the patterns format in codifying 210 design principles which human beings need to relate to products and works of art. This book rivals ANY other design work I have ever read. Absolutely highest recommendation. 5 stars (Great Introduction to important themes) - This book is a great introduction to many themes relevant to all form of design. Many references are given for anyone wishing to further develop their understanding of the theme discussed. ... 5 stars (Great Product and Packaging) - My Behind the Wheel course is the best I have yet tried. My course arrived shrink-wrapped in a nice vinyl album with a very nice book. No complaints. Delighted with the course overall. 3 stars (Needs better packaging) - Good product in general. My biggest issue is that the packaging is so bad that each time it was sent to me the cds had fallen out of their place in the container and got scratched up. 5 stars (UnMatched ! Head and Shoulders Above Other Spanish Audio Courses!) - I have checked out your Behind the Wheel course and the superiority and clarity was evident immediately. Very nicely organized and not littered with a bunch of grammatical terminology and categorization that bogs a learner down. The illustrated easy-to-comprehend text was definitely a plus and one that I really needed. Congratulations to Language Dynamics for doing such an excellent job putting together such an effective product. 5 stars (Creating Writers Through 6-Trait Writing Assessment and Instruction (4th Ed)) - This book gives so many examples of the qualities to look for and teach in writing instruction. I especially like the fact that this edition is more inclusive of secondary ideas and samples. With this book as a guide, it is hard to miss what is important to the writing instructional process. The information is comprehensive and user friendly. 4 stars (Great info, inconvenient format) - Creating Writers got me charged up and well-prepared for teaching sriting/revision using the 6 Trait model. Spandel writes well, using a combination of research-based information and personal anecdotes to keep the reader's attention. I appreciate the number and variety of samples she included for practice revision/assessment. The samples were, however, not very easy to duplicate for classroom use. The print is too small and there are often two samples on one page, or one sample on several pages. The layout is difficult to work with. Overall, though, the book is excellent. I have been to two training sessions about 6 Traits, but it took Spandel's book to get me hooked and enthusiastic, and made me confident about using the 6 Traits in the classroom.The information deserves a 5 star rating. 5 stars (Lifesaver) - This book came during my summer vacation when my motivation to read was quite low........I read it in one sitting and got so many ideas for my work with language impaired elementary school students. It is timely and appropriate for all age levels. Many educators are looking for research based best practices and this is a great reference! 5 stars (Bringing Words to Life in the classroom!) - Being a teacher, I found "Bringing Words To Life" very helpful. I've gotten so many good ideas to bring to the classroom. Today, we have so many children who sit in front of the television or are focused on video games that they don't have enough real life experience to relate to vocabulary. Having necessary vocabulary skills is very important in reading comprehension. If a child doesn't understand what they're reading then they won't be able to comprehend the story. Reading the story has given my not only ideas to enhance vocabulary but it's given me the inspiration to be creative. I would suggest any teacher read this book to become inspired! 4 stars (Bringing Words to Life) - Bringing Words to Life: Robust Vocabulary Instruction is a good book to use for resource of ways to teach vocabulary. I found Chapter 4: Developing Vocabulary in the Earliest Grades to be the most helpful for finding ideas on how to teach vocabulary to my reading groups. All though, at times I did think some of the chapters were quite lengthy and even sometimes hard to understand. I will be using this book for ideas in the future. ...
