I made a humorous card for for my mother that she absolutely LOVED it (getting a smile out of mom's face is a task) The only issue I had was i recieved an error while trying to download it to my system. I called tech support, and was up and running in 5 min. 4 stars (Big Improvement Over MM2005 Deluxe, But Still Not Perfect) - I have been using Magix Music Maker since version 7, and have seen it progress in terms of stability and features. This version is the most capable and stable yet, although it is not without problems. To summarize the functionality of this application, it is a clone of Sony's Acid program. It is a loop sequencer with which you can quickly put together loop-based musical compositions. Included is a set of loops of varying styles to get you off the ground quickly, as well as a series of virtual synthesizers to create your own sounds. For the price, you get a lot right out of the box. Central to the program is the main sequencer, which is simply a specialized grid onto which you can drag and drop your loops and synthesizer tracks. There is the ability to individually manipulate track data by varying volume and adding fade in/out effects, as well as a rather extensive collection of special effects for creating 3D effects in your audio. There is also an integrated effects rack for tweaking and "fiddling" to get the sound just right. The synthesizers that are included are varied in nature and include a beat box, a drum machine, a "virtual drummer", copper, silver, classical guitar, a grand piano, an ambient sound generator, and a couple of others. While these are all useful, I have found that one cannot generate the "right sound" in every situation. Particularly limited is the new "LiViD" synth (Little Virtual Drummer) which seems to be just a loop-based drum generator with prerecorded tracks that allows you to tweak the drum tracks in a few interesting ways. While the built-in synthesizers may leave you wanting a little more, there is a VSTi host for integrating other synthesizers that are downloadable from the net to allow you a wider range of unique sounds. 5 stars (Another Quality Hallmark Program) - I have had Hallmark software for 4 years running now. Falling in line with the others,this version producing great cards for all your family and friends to enjoy. 1 stars (Hallmark Card Studio) - I wrote upon returning the product that both Hallmark and Amazon should be ashamed to send such a poor product. The colors on the card were not good and the software was so faulty. It would print the sayings on top of each other, not centered. I had an earlier product from Microsoft that had beautiful cards and selections that I used for many years but got outdated and would not install. I asked and hopefully have received a complete refund. 5 stars (Easy to Use) - I love how you have everything in the project can be manipulated so easily. When I bought this I was worried that it would be difficult for this 70 year young senior. It produces top quality cards for every special occasion. 1 stars (No PDF function - advertising on box is false) - This product states in several places on the box that you can save and/or e-mail calendar files in PDF format. This is a false statement. The PDF file functions are only found in the more expensive "Deluxe" version. We called the manufacturer's customer support number and, after a lengthy wait, a support tech confirmed the only the deluxe version could do PDF files. He did not seem surprised to learn that the standard 2005 version box claimed to have that function included. This is blatent false advertising. DO NOT BE MISLED! 1 stars (The Absolute Worst) - I've never spent so much wasted time trying to get a program to do what I want it to. This is the most rediculous, convoluted way to create a simple calendar, using your own photos in your own chosen order, that I've ever seen in my life. Calendar Creator 4 was simple and straight forward, it just didn't add your photos. Finally I've upgraded and luckily I found a rebate that made this p.o.s. software free. 3 stars (My .02) - Many software publishers allow free "trial" downloads of the product. If you didn't have enough sense to try-before-you-buy, then don't complain when your expectations aren't met. Besides, you rarely get free support on a $40 title, so stop whining. I'm going to download this and try it. If I like it, I'll buy and then add another review. 1 stars (Bad Software) - I bought this and got Amazon's usual good service. That's the good news. This software is lousy! The design objects don't even include common things like bath vanities. They must want you to use a kitchen base cabinet but the depth and height are wrong and you can't change either. 2 stars (Non-Existent technical support) - I replaced my computer and reinstalled PSPA5 deluxe which I'd bought from Amazon last year. I received several error messages during the installation but the program worked. I tried to install the downloaded upgrade but got an error message that my version was not valid. Corel recently bought Jasc so I went to their site and, rather than pay per incident for tech support, I described the problem and asked for help which was free and promised the next business day. After two weeks with no reply. I sent them another e-mail and waited another week with no reply. I then sent them a fax, on the belief that my ISP might be blocking their reply, and asked for a faxed response or snail mail help. NOTHING! Spending real money for PSPA 5 apparently buys you a decent program and being totally ignored by Jasc's new owners, Corel. I gave the program a low rating because I believe that prompt e-mail support is an essential part of the cost of the program. I uninstalled PSPA 5 and will buy nothing new from JASC/COREL. Picasa 2 from Google works well and is free. 3 stars (Decent but could be so much better with attention to details) - Some of the other reviewers have here have spelled out where the program works well so you can consider this the CONS review. 1. The biggest complaint is speed. Opening, editing and building thumbnails are all agonizingly slow. My pictures are stored on a server in my home so there is some understandable delay. But I also use Paint Shop Pro 6 (PSP6) which builds thumbnails faster that I can see them and opens and edits pictures far faster. My wife gets so frustrated with PSPA5s slow speed that she ends up opening and editing in PSP6 and then I loose all EXIF data. Last night added a new folder of about 45 images and it took at least 3 minutes to build all the thumbnails. 2. The next thing is opening folders. PSPA5 calls folders albums. 2 stars (Transparency Problem) - This product is very nice when it works. However, I'm having the same problem as the reviewer below me. When I attempt to export the image - either by saving, draging or copying, Hemera places a transparency over the object, making the product worthless. I gave it two stars because, for the two months it worked, it worked well, however, now, it won't work at all. And as the other reviewer stated, support is nearly non-existant. 1 stars (Can't use this program) - This product offers much to chose from and I really liked the photos. However, I have yet to get this program to work right. I am able to view the photos but when I go into the the Export Wizard to save the photos, the photo has a transparency over the top of it, instead of in the background. I tried bypassing the Export Wizard by right clicking on the selected photo and saving. This also inserts the transparency over the photo. I called Hemera in Canada and they instructed me to call Encore USA in CA for support. Encore USA said they couldn't help me. Encore's technical support is "limited to crashes, error messages and lockups". I also referred to their website hoping to find help in the knowledge base or FAQ's. There was VERY little about this software and no help to be found. I wasted my money on a product I can't use and that offers no support for issues out of my control. 4 stars (Best value Hemera offers, but a few cautions) - First, if you're thinking about using these photos for print, you may wish to think again. Most objects run between 300-600 pixels in width or height, or 1-2 inches at 300 DPI. Stretch them bigger than that, and they'll start to blur and/or get jagged. Also note, that if you try to export/save an image from the Hemera Image browser and select the 300 DPI setting, the browser may stretch the graphic larger than it's actual size, causing blurring and jaggedness right out of the gate. 4 stars (Suitcase works well) - Suitcase X1 works well. It does require healthy installation and cleaning up your fonts one time. The fact that it forces you to do that is a good thing. Some people will not read the directions or will not be disciplined to clean up their fonts and will have lots of trouble. When this is installed properly, the professional font management features are well worth it. Apple's Font Book is fine for the home user but the professional needs a more powerful solution like Suitcase X1. 1 stars (Unstable) - This program is buggy. Stick with font book that comes with OSX. This release has problems with: Not saving settings, not loading fonts correctly for use, constant conflict problems, Ive had multiple problems with the program crashing on startup requiring me to go in and manually clean out fonts. 5 stars (Great, beautiful software program) - Wow, I can print my own beautiful invitations so easily thanks to PrintingPress Platinum! It's easy to use, even for us novice computer phobes. So, far I've created rehearsal dinner invitations, birthday party invitation for a 3 year old and moving cards . . . and gotten huge compliments! It's a wonderful product. 5 stars (Love this) - I have been using this terrific software for over a year now. I love it. The program allows me to easily format invitations and envelopes, posters, programs, all sorts of things. The fonts are so beautiful and different, I always get compliments on them. The images and borders are easy to manipulate and alter to make them very unique. In addition, it is very easy to incorporate my own images and manipulate them effortlessly as well. Anything you could possibly want to do, this software makes it easier. I highly recommend it. 4 stars (Why pay for custom invitations anymore?!) - This is a great product! So far I have made bridal shower invitations, two sets of thank-you notes with personalized envelopes, place cards and menu cards. The interface is very straightforward and customizable. You can expand the included fonts and images to infinity by using others on your computer or the internet, so while the included "library" might be a little small, that is by no means a limitation! I've received tons of compliments on my Printing Press work. I highly recommend if you have a little creative spark and are sick of struggling with word processing programs to make your invitations! ...
