5 stars (Routinely Recomend) - I have recommended this book many times. Knowledge is power and comfort. There is no hysteria created by reading this book as some reviewer who have not even read the book purport. Of course I already "knew" about many of Mr. De Becker's principles, as we all should. Its just important to be reminded or should I say "hit up side the head" with them. His examples do just that. I read the book 2 years ago when my husband hired Mr. De Becker's firm to work on a safe room for a client and YES... I have retained all the information. Imagine that. I just recommended the book to my son's girlfriend who is off to college and will keep recommending it. 4 stars (Part of the Story, But With Some Flaws) - This book does a very good job of helping people recognize behaviors and actions that may lead to trouble. Unfortunately, this book has some flaws and certainly could have been better. Mr. De Becker is clearly an expert at teaching about manipulation, grooming, and other patterns of behavior that often precede violence. He does a great service in explaining techniques used by antisocials and ways to counteract them by following our instincts. On the down side, the book contains a lot of anti-gun propaganda. The author tends to make unsubstantiated claims about how having a gun makes one less safe. He uses a couple of examples while ignoring the hundreds of cases annually where individuals with weapons have saved their own lives or those of others. Additionally, he tends to do a lot of self promotion for his company and name dropping of the ultra leftist elites of Hollywood. Although it may impress some readers that he has connections with Rosie O'Donnell and Barbara Streisand, it certainly does nothing to enhance his credibility. On the contrary, it makes him appear to be a liberal with an agenda. In this case, that is making people less self reliant for their own protection while promoting his company. That is unfortunate as it takes... 5 stars (Tapping the Healer Within) - Excellent and easy to use. A must for people who feel that the body has the power to heal itself from inside and are tied of the medical professions inadequacies. 5 stars (A therapy that works) - I am a Medical Doctor of Ecuador and I`ve been using the method for a few months and it really works in the percentages that Dr Callahan mentions in his book. It is a self help book, I think that the reason why some of the people who mention that the method didn't work on them was that in some cases the help of a professional trained in the method is required. Most of the time you can practice in your own home, but other times you really need help, the acupressure points need to be tapped in the rigth spot, if you tapp a little far away you are not producing the effect that you need. So give a try, if it is not effective look for someone trained in the method. Fernando Camacho MD 5 stars (Caution....must have an OPEN MIND to use properly) - I find it terribly sad that so many have ego problems with using and understanding these techniques. They are simple, profound, and effective IF USED PROPERLY. Roger Callahan is the "godfather" of EFT, and Energy Medicine in general. Here he shares his exciting discoveries as a practical guide for self-help of a multitude of issues confronting the average human. One of the primary steps to using this effectively for yourself is to keep your mind steadily focused on the issue you are attempting to heal. Since most of us have trouble with this type of "one pointed" focus (our minds can bounce around at lightening speed!), we may have trouble getting results, and consider this a failure. It isn't! As a suggestion to the person with the blushing problem...a focus on the "feeling" that comes before the actual blushing would most likely work. However, it sounds like this person has a lot of trouble with embarassment in general....and may need to work on a multitude of aspects before getting relief. I find... 5 stars (Great book on mental game of golf ) - The mental game of book of golf is worth checking out. 5 stars (Fearless Indeed) - This book teaches you to block out all distractions. It details how to focus on the golf course and your target. You hear from many of the pro golfers from today and in the past, explaining their thought process. If you take this book seriously, it will definitely improve your mental approach to the game. 4 stars (Forget about what others think. ) - Dr. Valeante's focus on fear and mastery is unique among the mental game gurus. I've always been intrigued by how the fear of a three foot putt can paralyze a perfectly healthy man. (I've been there.) As Dr. Valiante points out, a lot of it has to do with ego. When you're preoccupied with what other people think, you can't perform up to your potential. But it's hard to escape ego-oriented thinking. The achievement orientation that's so pervasive in our society feeds into it. For better or worse, we're taught to judge people, and we subconsciously know that we're being judged. But this book will help you reframe your thinking and minimize the effects of ego on your golf game. It will help you forget about the bad shots, and focus on the positive process of improvement. There are so many books on the mental side of golf, it's getting to the point of oversaturation. They all offer good insight and helpful information, but some are more applicable than others. This one falls right about in the middle. Dr. Valiante offers plenty of antidotes from tour players to illustrate his ideas, and he makes a very important point... that every round of golf should be approached as a learning experience. ...
