Microsoft Access 2003 Upgrade

1 stars (Save your money) - Attempted to upgrade from 97 to 2003... bad move... none of my access 97 programs work now... in fact I, I brought home a 2003 access database from work to see if it was an incampatibility problem between the two versions... nope... the upgrade just didn't work.....had to purchase a full version to set things right... save your money on this product... 1 stars (Keep Access 2000) - This software is not worth upgrading. I think Access 2000 is the best database and 2002 is good if you want to use Data Access Pages. Access 2003 has a lot of bugs. I'm having trouble with basic formulas. This is very frustrating. Be careful, especially if you don't have time to trouble shoot software changes. 3 stars (Re : Internet Activation Policy) - To the previous reviewer regarding Internet Activation Policy. I can tell you that I recently purchased Office 2003 Pro, and I was allowed to activate the product twice. It is stated in the licensing policy that the product may be installed once on a permanent computer, and once more on a portable computer (ie: notebook, tablet etc.). This is exactly what I did. If the second computer was not portable, I don't think they would know this, and therefore you could actually install twice. Hope this helps. ...

Kensington Contour Pro 17- Notebook Carrying Case 62340

5 stars (Great Bag for 17" laptops) - I have been using my Contour Pro 17" for just over a month now and I am very pleased with its quality and functionality. There is a padded sleeve for the laptop, and there are lots of storage pockets throughout the case. The Contour Pro is well designed, and everything seems to be in the right spot. Although my Dell 9300 can be a little heavy to carry for long periods of time, the Contour Pro is very comfortable over the shoulder and I suspect the case's design minimizes the stress of the load. Great case--5 stars. 5 stars (Great case for 17 " laptops) - I've been using this case for the past month and have been very pleased with the quality and the comfort. My Dell 9300 desktop replacement is a big unit and after spending quite a bit of time researching cases, I settled on this case for several reasons. First, it has a case within a case. This adds to the protection and if you are just gong from home to work, the inner case with handles is perfect to maintain protection. Placing the inner case inside the case really provides good protection. The inside pockets and quality of the zippers are great and I don't know how Kensington is able to build this for the price. From an ergonomic standpoint, the case is concaved on one side which makes it easier to carry on your shoulder and the interlocking handle makes it comfortable to carry as a briefcase. I would definately recommend this case to others that are trying to carry a big 17 inch laptop around. 5 stars (Study and very well designed. ) - This case was just what I needed. It's durable and protects the computer. The arrangement of pockets is flexible and organized--there is a place for the largest of laptops, another for books or files, another for office supplies likes pens, calculators, cell phones, and finally, a shallow but roomy pocket to throw keys and all the odds and ends that might be in your pockets that you need to temporarily dump in order to get through the air...

FileMaker Developer 7

5 stars (Dual Platform) - Previous produt from Filemaker (version 6Dev) is overall satisfactory. Even if the way of building tabs might take some work, other improvements do largely compensate for this weakness. To avoid the "flicker" one has just to be precise to the pixel in the placement of the layout elements. And FM does offer tools to do so even in version 6! Previous versions and information from Filemaker Inc. clearly state that the intaller is dual platform, Mac AND Windows on the same disk. So, unless amazon is marketing a special version this product should also work for Mac computers. 5 stars (Great Development Tool) - Now that you've read the previous 0 star rating, (tab buttons - give me a break), realize that FileMaker 7 is a great database development platform. Just a few of the upgrade's improvements: No File Size Limit (that's a heck of a lot of recipies Bob). The days of needing to migrate when a file hits the 2 Gig file size wall are OVER. Your database can grow to fill the largest hard drive a computer can support. Multiple data tables per file. Improved browser support of buttons and scripts through instant web publishing feature. Improved security. And if one is really worried about lining up their "tab buttons" on layouts, FileMaker offers a free 30 day evaluation for download from their website. In fact, the only negative comment I can make is that the Server version won't be available until this summer. 1 stars (Developer edition is an oxymoron) - I purchased and installed this product and ran into a brick wall, that precludes its use as a serious development tool. My real rating is 0 stars. Filemaker does not use tab controls. It gets around this shortcoming by requiring that a separate layout be designed for each tab. Importantly this is not just for the information on the tab, BUT FOR THE WHOLE COTTON-PICKIN layout!!! Then when a user clicks on the tab "button", a new layout is repainted over the old. Even though Filemaker provides...

ACT- 2005 Old Version

1 stars (ACT! 2005...Gone BAD!) - Act has been a constant software companion for me since the 2.0 version with miles and miles of my most sacred business data. I always upgraded the product as soon as the new versions came out and for the most part was always happy with the new releases. But when ACT! 2005 came out I heard some bad stories from inital reviews so I waited....then an update for 2005 came out to correct many of the issues the original release exhibited. So I finally decided to upgrade, convert my old data over and expected to have a pleasant experiece with the latest features and supposedly speed that SQL use was to provide. WRONG! After working with my data for awhile I noticed the database was SLOW, I was missing fields, notes, history, etc. but not for all of my contacts, it seems interspersed throughout my database. In using the layout designer tool it has hosed up my layouts so bad that some fields do not even show up in the Layout Designer but in the Contact View are way over to one side. This has cost me many hours of work trying to get my ACT! 2005 to function properly out of the box. Do not buy this product, it is a waste of your money and will waste your time, especially if you used previous versions of ACT! and will frustrate the heck out of Advanced ACT! user. I am going back to ACT! 6.0, atleast there is support for it for a few more years and give me time to look at other products in the market place. 4 stars (What is going on?) - I first began to work with ACT! in 1987 when the original founders of Contact Software showed up in my office and presented their ACT! software to me for testing. At the time I was a partner with a Big 8 accounting firm working with startup technology companies. I thought enough of the software and the company to leave the world of public accounting and join the company as their president and CEO for a short time to get them focused and funded. Since that time, I have used ACT! as an executive sear...

Microsoft Works Suite 2005 Money- Encarta- Picture It- Streets -amp- Trips- Word 2002

3 stars (Decent software, but not worth the cash) - Microsoft has, as always, produced decent software. It is nothing to get excited over, but it does its job. The problem with this software, as with all other Microsoft software, is that it is so overpriced. If it is your company buying or something, then go ahead and get it, the software works well, and it does its job as well as anything else you're going to find, not to mention that since most other people use Microsoft products, your documents will be compatible. But if you are buying for yourself, I strongly suggest you look into something else. There are numerous open source programs available on the internet, as well as other commercial programs that can be bought for less money that will work just as well. As for the other programs (money, encarta, picture it, streets & trips), they are also not that great. Why buy an expensive Microsoft encarta when you have Wikipedia? Why buy streets and trips when you have MapQuest and Google Earth? Why buy Money when you can get other programs that are just as good if not better either cheap or free? The choice is up to you 3 stars (Dont think I'll like it as much..........) - as my old Works Suite 2002. I tried installing the 2002 suite on my new computer. Kept getting an error message about not being able to display the EULA agreement for me to accept, and thus wont install the Works Task launcher. I tried all the "fixes" but it just wouldnt install, so, I bought the Works Suite 2005 from Amazon. Well, I got an error message after I installed it. This time about not being able to run it on Windows 95, 98 and 2000. Well, I'm using XP Pro. Long story short, I just right clicked on TASK LAUNCHER, THEN COMPATIBILITY, THEN UNCHECKED THE COMPATIBILITY MODE BOX, and the program started up. I also had to uninstall Office 2003, which uses Word 2003 because Works Suite 2005 uses Word 2002. This was on the advice of Microsoft Tech support. I was shocked to find ...
