1 stars (ALL of her books share the same major fault....) - Don't get me wrong, I love her shows, it is great to see how she pulls it all together in the 30 minutes without seeming rushed. The recipes, for the most part, are pretty healthy and have good variety. The lack of pictures doesn't bother me, as she's not really into foo-foo presentation with raspberry sauce swirled half-a-mile away on the edge of the dessert plate, imho totally wasting perfectly good raspberry sauce.... However, her books are *not* written to really go with the flow of her show, as in total meals being prepared at the same time. The recipes, while grouped together as a menu, are all written separately, just like in other cookbooks. So, if you're looking to see what you should be doing *while* the water is boiling or something else is cooking, you're not going to get any help from her books, which is disappointing. Believe it or not, it takes organization and good time management skills to get everything on the table hot (or cold, as the case may be) at the same time. Her shows do an excellent job of this--the books do not. She needs to look at redoing her books in both formats--recipes all being prepared at the same time to match her show, as well as the more conventional way if you want to mix and match. Then I would buy them. In the meantime, watch the shows and take notes to get the process down, then get the books from the library or used from Amazon. 4 stars (HOW ABOUT 30 MEALS IN 15 MINUTES?) - She's done it again...another book, with recipes simple enough for your lazy teenage son to cook, but Rachel, Rachel...more pix please! Some of us need more stimulation than others. I enjoy Rachels cooking show and her previous books, but the recipes are just too good to pass off as my own, so reluctantly, I'll have to give her credit. 2 stars (Mixed satisfaction with recipes) - Yes, these recipes can be finished in 30 mins when you are somewhat organised in your kitchen. 5 stars (Some of Ina's Best Work) - This publication includes some of the best Barefoot recipes. Lots of wonderful images(but not TOO many)that are very colorful and well presented. I am very pleased with this purchase. 5 stars (Like having Mom in the kitchen with you) - Great recipes and advice on every page...I especially appreciated the "10 items you need in your kitchen". She also offers brand names to use when she feels it will make a difference in the outcome of the recipe. 5 stars (AMAZING!!) - Love, Love, Love this book. Have tried various recipes and all have come out amazingly. So simple with a great result. All my friends think that I am a seasoned chef. Ina is my hero! ... 5 stars (I found another elegant cookbook that makes the best wedding present!) - I am an avid, but amateur chef and am getting married in Fall 05. I've been given a bunch of cookbooks. My favorite show on Food TV is the Barefoot Contessa . . . but my favorite cookbook so far, hands down, is called NOT ON LOVE ALONE by Jessie Carry Saunders. It has a friendly, intimate tone, and it feels like something written by a young woman for other young couples. Just like Ina Garten, the recipes are elegant and delicious without ever feeling fussy. It has a friendly, appealing feel, like the author is in the kitchen with you, telling you stories about the recipes as she teaches you how to make them. Also, it's a super-high quality book -- it's a hard cover, the pages are nice and thick, and the watercolor illustrations on every page make the book seem like something you could display on your coffee table as easily as you could use it in the kitchen. Like I said, I love the Barefoot Contessa, but if you want a similar style cookbook by a pretty young chef, my recommendation is NOT ON LOVE ALONE. Trust me, you will be so happy with it! 4 stars (Definitely Worth Getting) - If you love Ina's Barefoot Contessa show on Food Network you will absolutely love this cookbook. The recipes are not intimidating, rather they are concise, elegant and delicious. Definitely want to get the rest of her books. Hope this review was helpful. 5 stars (Delicious recipes, great pictures, sensible ideas) - What a great combination of tips for entertaining, great recipes, and beautiful photos that help you visualize your results! I bought this book because of its approach of doing 95% of the food prep ahead of time so the host is free to spend time with the guests. I was planning a finger-food party and didn't want to spend the whole time in the kitchen. I tried many of the recipes along with some of my stand-bys. The food turned out great, and thanks to Ina's tips about how to arrange platte...
